On Election Day, November 8, the Board of Education sponsored the opportunity for district teachers, support staff and classroom aides to attend three professional development workshops on timely topics in the current educational arena. In the morning, Dr. Beverly Kling of Kean University, presented an overview on using the principles of inclusion in the regular classroom. The afternoon began with a talk by Jane Mecca, Esq., a member of the law firm of Fogarty & Hara, who represent the school district, on the professional and legal implications of the use of e-mail in the course of school business. The day concluded with a session devoted to instruction from the district technology staff, Walter Ryan, Anthony Smiraldi, John Dougherty and Patricia Ryan, on the latest operating system used by the newest Mac computers in the Oakland Schools.
