Manito Elementary School is a K-5 school serving approximately 350 students in the Oakland community. The school, which was constructed in 1961, has only had three principals--Mr. Joseph Guzzo, Dr. Barbara Tillman, and the building's current principal, Mr. Adam Silverstein. While the educational landscape has certainly changed during the last half century, what has remained constant is the Manito staff's unwavering commitment to maintaining a child-centered environment that prizes and accommodates individual differences among students.
