Children's Stories
As part of the seventh grade curriculum, students learned how to make podcasts using Apple's GarageBand program. The children's directive was to narrate a story they loved as a young child. The students then illustrated the pictures that would accompany their podcast. Using previously learned skills, the children took pictures of their drawings using digital cameras and imported them into iPhoto where they adjusted each picture as needed. The completed pictures were added to the podcast to enhance the auditory recordings of the story. The children recorded their voices, added background effects, and adjusted sounds and/or the pictures to complete the project.
The completed projects were exported so that they can be viewed on the Oakland website. Pre-school and kindergarten teachers in the District have been notified that these stories are available to use with their students. I hope everyone enjoys listening to these stories and that they bring to mind happy childhood memories.
