• Welcome to Mrs. Osborne's Third Grade

    Room 13

    About the Teacher:

I have been a teacher in the Oakland School District for the past twenty-three years, teaching grades 2, 3, and 5.  I am looking forward to an exciting year with your children and feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to help shape young minds. I strongly believe that children learn best in a safe environment where they feel appreciated and valued. In addition to teaching the basics, I hope that my students will grow in confidence this school year and develop a long-lasting love of learning. Students will work hard in a fun, loving, energetic classroom community designed for each and every student to reach his/her full potential. :)

Snack: We have a mid-morning snack each day. Kindly send your child to school with a nutritious, nut-free snack and drink.

Homework is assigned on a daily basis and is meant to serve as a gentle reminder of the day's lesson. If your child is frustrated or overwhelmed, please do not hesitate to let me know. In addition to written assignments, students should spend 15-20 minutes reading each night to practice their decoding, fluency, and comprehension skills. Each day, students will record their homework assignments in their student agendas. Students will also bring their blue "Take Home Folders" home each night. Homework will be placed in the side labeled "HW." Corrected papers/notices should be reviewed and removed each night. Students should complete their assignments to the best of their abilities, working both neatly and carefully putting their best foot forward! :)

Extra Help is available. If your child is struggling with a specific concept or skill, please let me know so that we can schedule a time for additional help. :)
