Ms. Brogan-Grade 5 Reading

Currently, we are working on Social Issue Book Clubs. Throughout this unit, we will read independently and then join together with group members to discuss what is occurring in the book. We will share our personal feelings regarding the topic. We will read about times in life when people have to overcome challenges. Conversations will take place, talking deeply about characters and how the setting of the book plays a key role in the events the character experiences. Students will determine the theme of the book and develop big ideas. As readers, we will make connections between the novel we are reading and events occurring in our world today.
