Board President's Message

  • Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year!

On behalf of the Oakland Board of Education, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the community, administration, teachers, and Parent Teacher Organizations for your continued support of the Oakland School District.

As we head into the new school year, the Oakland School District’s focus will be on the health and safety of our children and staff.  We will have staff in our buildings to support the social and emotional needs of our students. The facilities and technology departments have the spent summer months preparing our buildings.  We are grateful for our strong partnership with the Oakland Police Department and we will continue to examine and upgrade our security practices.

As always, we strive to provide the very best possible learning environment to ensure that our young minds are continuing to be challenged. We encourage our families to become active participants in your child’s education. Getting involved in the Parent-Teacher Organizations will keep you informed of the happenings in your school and you will find it can be one of the most rewarding experiences.   To stay on top of what is going on within the District plan on joining us for one of our monthly meetings, which typically occur on the third Tuesday of every month.   It is a strong home-school partnership that will make a difference for the better in your child’s education.

The Oakland Board of Education wishes you a happy, healthy, and successful school year,

    Peter Mazzilli, President
