• Welcome to Spanish Class!

¡Bienvenidos a la clase de español!

Ask your child to sing Buenos Días a Ti as you begin your day together. Students love singing to each other in Spanish!  In class, our brief dialogues are expanding to include our feelings, greetings, farewells, colors, shapes and numbers. Hopefully, your child is teaching you too! We have supported our language learning with authentic Spanish educational videos and songs.

Hispanic culture is infused into the lessons.  During October we explored the cultural significance o the Day of the Dead (El Día de los Muertos) and the meaning it takes on to many of the Hispanic world. In the coming months we will discuss the nine day celebration of Las Posadas. Children will deepen their perspectives of varying traditions and activities of diverse cultures. They will compare diverse traditions and activities to those in their own lives.

Continue to look for the 'Home Connections' page to keep you informed our class language learning. It will be sent home as we begin new themes in class and introduce the vocabulary/expressions associated with that unit of study. Fourth and fifth graders have workbooks to support classroom instruction.  Encourage your child to ‘teach’ you what was learned in class and practice Spanish with family and friends.

¡Es divertido hablar español! It’s fun to speak Spanish!
